Tubular running tools are specialized equipment in oil & gas drilling for safely handling, connecting, and lowering casing/tubing strings, including Casing Running Tools (CRTs) that attach to the top drive, power tongs for tightening joints, spiders/elevators to hold pipe, stabbing guides, and fill/circulate tools for managing wellbore fluids, all designed for efficiency and well integrity.

  • Key Components & Functions

  • Casing Running Tools (CRTs/ CRTi): Connect to the top drive, allowing for make-up, circulation, and rotation of casing strings, making operations smoother.

  • Power Tongs: Hydraulic or electric tools that grip and rotate pipe joints to apply precise torque for secure connections.

  • Elevators & Spiders: Heavy-duty slips (like UltraElevator, Flush Mounted Spiders) that grip and hold the pipe string securely on the rig floor.

  • Stabbing Guides: Help align and guide pipe connections during makeup.

  • Fill & Circulate Tools (FAC): Allow fluid to be pumped into the casing as it's run, preventing pressure imbalances, with a sealing element for efficient circulation.

  • Torque & Turn Systems (TRAC): Monitor and record connection data (torque, turns) for quality assurance.

  • Hydraulic Power Units (HPUs): Provide hydraulic power to run tongs and other tools.
